Proof Copy Received

The Proof Copy has been received. It was supposed to take 2-3 weeks. I got it delivered to my front door less than a week after it was requested. Of all days to decide to pack it in an envelope instead of a box, Amazon was a bit light on the packaging and it rained. My book was a little damp on one of the fringes, but a couple of hours next to the heater vent took care of that problem.

My new problem is that this is a very busy time for me with my real job. It will take some time before I even get an opportunity to read through the proof copy. But it sure does feel great to hold a physical copy of my book in my hands. THIS IS REAL now.

I have already gotten a communication from the Publicity team to help me in the continuing process. I will schedule a call with them as soon as I have time to read through and we make sure no changes need to be made. After I approve this copy revision will not be cheap.

Final Cover Design Approved!

I just looked at the final cover design. Can you say AWESOME! According to the timeline it is supposed to take a while before we get to the next step but a lot things have been done in tandem, in anticipation of the next steps. My “proof copy” is being requested and will be mailed to me as soon as the printer reconciles the files. I’ll have a printed copy in my hand to review! Yayyyyyyyyy!

The sad part about the whole transaction is that now I get handed off to antoher team. I have had had a great time working with my Managing Editor and the Graphics Artist. Now their parts of the job are done and its on to to the folks that will assist me with the leg of this venture–marketing and distribution!

Interior Design Done–We’re cooking with fat now!

After I got the last changes back I quickly verified that the change was correctly made. But, I have seen the publishing journey of others and knew that it would be beneficial to at least take some time and go though the pages. A complete re-read would not be necessary and that would be an even further delay.

After taking a few days to do the review and make sure all formatting was correct and the chapter numbers and pages all seemed correct, I sent my approval for the final manuscript. WOW! That seemed like a very weighty decision. From this point forward changes, if they need to be made will not be easy and likely not be cheap, so all of the extra precautions before approving are well worth it. The full cover spread has been requested and I am waiting for that to come back so that I can review it. Essentially it is the cover that I have already approved combined with the book blurb on the back and the information on the spine of the book formatted and printed. Once that is approved it is onward and upward!

Hello Fans! Back From Spain!

Greetings folks! Did you miss me? I had the greatest time in Denia Spain. It a quaint little east cost community. Very peaceful. It was a great place to “recharge my batteries.” While I was there, I gave the manuscript the once over again. I’m sorry to report that I did have one minor correction. I am hoping that since we are just touching one page, with just one correction, that the turnaround won’t take too long. We’re very close!

Now THAT was a fast turnaround!

Talk about your fast turn arounds! Well it was just one change on one page, so I was hoping that it did not take that long. But, I also have to remember that I am not the only client! However, now we are running into the holidays. I hoped to be finished long before not but the process gets very involved. Through it all I have nothing bad to report with the way things have been handled by my Publishing company, Atmosphere Press. I’ll have to do a post just on the company at some point. Kudos to Atmosphere!
